The Carbine Club of New Zealand is saddened to hear of the loss of David Bradford who recently passed age 91

The Carbine Club of New Zealand fondly remembers Carbine Club of New Zealand Life Member David Bradford, who passed away peacefully at the age of 91 on Thursday.

David Bradford’s career spanned several decades, beginning as a cadet reporter before moving on to significant roles within the racing media and administration. His passion for the sport was evident in every aspect of his work. David Bradford’s career was a testament to his love for racing. He was known for his distinctive writing style that was both entertaining and informative.

The Carbine Club of New Zealand was formed in 1971 as a direct result of prominent Auckland sporting and racing personalities attending functions at the inaugural Carbine Club in Melbourne. The three key New Zealand instigators, David Bradford; Bob Wynyard; and Arthur Hughes, had strong support from Dr Alex McGregor-Grant, who was already an honorary member of the Melbourne Club.

The preliminary meeting of the three founders was held at Auckland’s Intercontinental Hotel on March 12, 1971, and a follow-up meeting was held at Logan Park Motor Hotel on Friday, May 28.

Our thoughts are with Dave’s family and friends at this time.
